If it seems most of my recent newsletters have been warnings or alerts, you are right. At my “New President” workshop last November, the forecast was that from before the inauguration until afterward, a string of challenging aspects would create a lot of stress and uncertainty. First, there was nasty Mars square Saturn, then volatile Mars conjunct Uranus and Sun square Uranus, and now Mercury Retrograde and Sun square Mars.
In effect this past week and for the next few days, Sun square Mars is the most significant factor now active in the sky. Occurring twice a year, this stressful aspect brings the potential for hastiness, stubbornness, and ego battles, especially involving males. Sun square Mars is also related to disputes, differences, intolerance, heightened differences, and typically coincides with accidents, attacks, aggression, violence, weather extremes, and escalated military tensions.
With this aspect in effect, it’s more appropriate to be patient and tolerant than pushy and demanding. Trying to dominate others may only antagonize them, and they will push even harder against you. On the plus side, this aspect generates a lot of energy and determination which can help you be more competitive, productive, and achieving, if directed properly.
Sun in Aquarius square Mars in Taurus occurs at thirteen degrees, which makes this aspect particularly relevant for anyone with Sun, Moon, planets, and points at thirteen degrees Taurus, Leo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Aquarius.
Mercury Retrograde
If you are experiencing significant shifts in your thinking and plans, it may be because Mercury turned retrograde this morning. From my research, the five days before and after Mercury goes retrograde (in this case today, January 30 at 26 degrees Aquarius) and the five days before and after Mercury goes direct (Saturday, February 20 at 11 degrees Aquarius) are typically the most significant days for Mercury retrograde periods.
Many people expect everything to go wrong and even haywire with Mercury retrograde, but Mercury retrograde periods are favorable for inward-oriented activities such as reflection, reviewing, and meditation.
However, with Mercury ruling thoughts and communication, there is likely to be more “mess-ups” and complications than usual, along with mental lapses and mistakes, misunderstandings, false assumptions, missed appointments, lost checks, written typos, cancellations, and postponements.
Most importantly, the decisions you make and the plans you start with Mercury retrograde are more likely to take a twist and be seen in a different light when unforeseen assumptions and mistakes "come to light” after Mercury goes direct.

Mars in Taurus from January 06 until March 03 boosts Taurus, and to a lesser degree, the other earth signs, Virgo and Capricorn. During this period, Mars, the planet related to desires, passions, conflicts, urgency, impulsiveness, and stress, will also be challenging Leo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Aquarius.
Jupiter, the planet of hope, expansion, optimism, opportunities, and good fortune, at 10 degrees Aquarius brings opportunities for anyone with planets and points at 10 degrees.
Saturn at 05 degrees Aquarius is likely bringing steady accomplishments for anyone born at 05 degrees Aquarius as well as pressures, tests, trials, delays, losses, and even harsh realities for anyone with points or planets at 05 degrees Taurus, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.
Uranus at 07 degrees Taurus brings significant shifts, changes, adjustments, breakthroughs, and even shocks for anyone with planets and points at 07 degrees Taurus, Leo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Aquarius. Uranus in Taurus is also creating possible breakthroughs, advances, and opportunities for those with planets and points at 07 degrees Virgo and Capricorn.

Lunar Aspects
The aspects highlighted at the top of these newsletters are typically in effect for days and even weeks. The lunar (Moon) aspects listed below are in effect for hours (versus days) before and until the Eastern Time listed. The plus (+) lunar aspects are favorable. The minus (-) lunar aspects are more likely to bring challenges or difficulties. Sometimes there is a + and - lunar aspect, which means that aspect can exhibit positive and negative influences. These lunar aspects can be quite relevant for right timing, that is, choosing to start or initiate a meeting, decision, project, or trip, for example, at a favorable time.

Moon in the earth sign Virgo boosts Virgo, and to a lesser degree, the other earth signs, Taurus and Capricorn. Moon in Virgo also helps any planets and points you have in Virgo and should bring together more things for Virgo on a short-term basis.

However, this aspect also brings nervousness, anxiety, upsets, restlessness, excitability, volatility, and emotionally charged situations.
10:04 PM + (Moon in Virgo 135 Jupiter in Aquarius) opportunities for any interpersonal situation, including meetings and working with the public. This aspect also increases the possibilities for kindness, benevolence, positive attitudes, shared feelings, and uplifting emotional support.

Guidelines for Using This Information
These newsletters are not your typical sun sign column. They provide much more information and guidance, but with so many factors presented, it can be difficult to sort everything out, even for astrology students. I try to keep everything as clear and straightforward as possible.
Remember that these newsletters do not intend to tell you what will happen in your life at the times given. Instead, the aspect descriptions provide some of the possible influences you can expect around the times given so you can plan your life more wisely. It is often apparent which time frames are better than others for timing the start of a party, trip, decision, business, or any other event.
The times given are for the Eastern Time Zone, so you need to adjust the times for where you live. For example, if you live on the West Coast, there is a three-hour difference, which means you need to subtract three hours.
The most critical factor with right timing is what is occurring in your horoscope. When negative aspects dominate your horoscope, the chances of success with right timing diminish no matter how favorable the aspects are in the sky. These newsletters cannot cover what is occurring in your horoscope. However, if you apply the information in these newsletters with common sense, you can better time your decisions and activities.
The basic premise with right timing is that it helps to have the "stars" on your side. Starting a marriage, trip, surgery, business, real estate deal, or a major purchase, for example, at an inopportune time reduces the chances of success no matter how good your intentions and how hard you try: the better the timing, the higher your chances of success. Even an hour can make a significant difference with important decisions and events.
During Void periods, there tends to be a lull in the energy levels, and what you start or implement is less likely to turn out the way you planned. It’s usually better to do things with less significance or no purpose in mind versus trying to start something new and vital. If you have a new idea, meet someone new, or start a business, for example, those activities are less likely to amount to much.
The Moon enters each sign of the zodiac about every 28 days and remains in each sign for about two and a half days. When the Moon is in your sun sign, matters are likely to come more together for you on a short-term basis unless there are significant aspects currently challenging your horoscope.
The traits and qualities I assign to the signs in these newsletters describe the signs’ functions and meanings versus describing your personality. However, the descriptions may be entirely accurate for you. Furthermore, to understand a person’s personality and character from an astrological perspective, dozens of factors besides one's sun sign need to be considered.
