Capricorn Cold & Mercury Retrograde

Moon in the water sign Pisces from early Tuesday morning until Thursday morning EST boosts Pisces and, to a lesser degree, the other water signs, Cancer and Scorpio. Moon in Pisces also helps any planets and points you have in Pisces and should bring together more things for Pisces on a short-term basis.
Moon in Pisces also supports anyone’s involvement with Pisces-related activities such as music, dancing, painting, movies, theater, film, drama, poetry, fiction, and photography; working with dreams, imagination, and the subconscious; anything spiritually oriented such as prayer, yoga, and meditation; and unselfishly helping those in need including the sick and less fortunate.
Capricorn Cold
As you know from the news, “a nearly week-long winter storm has plunged temperatures to life-threatening lows, brought blizzards and floods, and left more than a quarter million people without power on Christmas Day. At least 57 storm-related deaths reported across seven states, and more than 1 million customers are without power. Thousands of flights have been canceled. Officials are urging Americans to stay off the roads.”
One of the basic principles of astrology is “there’s a time for everything,” and coldness, loneliness, and darkness were more likely due to the strong presence of Capricorn in the sky.
On December 21 Sun entered Capricorn to join Mercury, Venus, and Pluto in Capricorn, and on December 23, there was a New Moon in Capricorn. That’s a lot of Capricorn! When four or more planets are in one sign, it’s called a stellium which highlights the qualities of that sign.
Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the planet of tests and karma, which brings to the forefront things we don’t necessarily appreciate. For starts, Saturn rules coldness, including snow, cold weather, freezing rain, and frozen pipes, roads, and lakes. In addition, Capricorn governs delays and frustrations, which many people experienced with their travel plans disrupted.
Saturn is also related to darkness, loneliness, discouragement, negativity, melancholy, sadness, and depression. With Capricorns born in the darkness of the winter, they tend to be more somber, realistic, and negative than the other signs. In ancient times, winter was the time for the harsh realities of survival. A time to work hard and make it through tough times, which is very much Saturn-like.
Saturn is also related to bare truth. Often, we wish and want things to be different from what they are, but the facts and harsh reality of our lives can be painful to face and scrutinize.
Therefore, it’s been a good time to be brutally honest about your life and to question your values and efforts. And finally, with the current emphasis on Capricorn, it’s been appropriate to be more Capricorn-like in a positive way, focusing on what needs to be get done in your life with discipline, sacrifice, and hard work.
So, don’t let the coldness and darkness keep you down. It’s going to get warmer.
Mercury Retrograde
During the coming week, you will likely experience important shifts in your thinking, attitudes, and plans. Furthermore, it would be helpful if you were more careful with your decisions because, from my research, the five days before and after Mercury goes retrograde (in this case, Thursday, December 29) and the five days before and after Mercury goes direct (January 18) are the most significant days for Mercury Retrograde.
Unfortunately, many people believe that everything will go wrong when Mercury is retrograde. Still, many successful organizations, companies, corporations, and individuals have Mercury retrograde in their horoscopes.
Also, too many people blame Mercury Retrograde for their problems and mishaps when, in fact, more significant factors are contributing to their difficulties, such as Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto making challenging aspects to important planets and points in their horoscope.
Furthermore, Mercury retrograde periods are favorable for inward-oriented activities such as reflection, reviewing, and meditation, making this a good time for writing, editing, researching, and problem-solving.
However, with Mercury ruling thoughts and communication, there will likely be more “mess-ups” and complications than usual, including mental lapses and mistakes, misunderstandings, false assumptions, missed appointments, lost checks, written typos, cancellations, and postponements. For example, you are more likely to encounter longer delays, misplaced luggage, lost hotel room keys, unforeseen detours, and inaccurate directions when you travel.
Most importantly, the decisions you make and the plans you start with Mercury retrograde are more likely to take a twist and be seen differently when unforeseen assumptions and mistakes "come to light” after Mercury goes direct.
Current Sun Sign Factors

However, this aspect increases the possibilities for haziness and emotional confusion and is not ideal for logical discussions and clear-cut decisions.

These newsletters are not your typical sun sign column. They provide much more information and guidance, but it may not be easy to sort everything out with many factors presented, even for astrology students. Therefore, I try to keep everything as clear and straightforward as possible.
The most critical factor with right timing is what is occurring in your horoscope. When negative aspects dominate your horoscope, the chances of success with right timing diminish no matter how favorable the aspects are in the sky. These newsletters cannot cover what is occurring in your horoscope. However, applying the information in these newsletters with common sense allows you to better time your decisions and activities.
The basic premise with right timing is that it helps to have the "stars" on your side. Starting a marriage, trip, surgery, business, real estate deal, or a major purchase, for example, at an inopportune time reduces the chances of success no matter how good your intentions and how hard you try: the better the timing, the higher your chances of success. Even an hour can make a significant difference with important decisions and events.
Moon enters each zodiac sign about every 28 days and remains in each sign for about two and a half days. When the Moon is in your sun sign, matters will likely come more together for you on a short-term basis unless significant aspects are currently challenging your horoscope.
The traits and qualities I assign to the signs in these newsletters describe the signs’ functions and meanings versus describing your personality.
