Mercury Retrograde Warning

Ed Kluska’s Astrology Newsletter

This newsletter explains why this Mercury retrograde is more significant.

About five days before and after Mercury goes retrograde (in this case Friday, November 16) and then about five days before and after Mercury goes direct (Thursday, December 06) are the most significant days for Mercury retrograde.

With Mercury retrograde, you need to be more careful with your thinking, plans, and decisions. Typically, there are more “mess ups” and complications than usual because Mercury rules our thinking and communication.

There’s more likely to be mental lapses and mistakes, misunderstandings, false assumptions, missed appointments, lost checks, written typos, and cancellations and postponements. When you travel, for example, you are more likely to encounter longer delays, misplaced luggage, lost hotel room keys, unforeseen detours, and inaccurate directions.

Also, the decisions you make and the plans you start with Mercury retrograde are more likely to take a twist later and be seen in a different light when unforeseen assumptions and mistakes "come to light” after Mercury goes direct.

However, as I have emphasized in all my Mercury retrograde newsletters, people blame too much on Mercury being retrograde because when they are having problems, there are typically other factors contributing to their issues such as challenging transits from Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto to their horoscope.

Furthermore, Mercury retrograde periods are favorable for inwardly-oriented activities such as reflection, reviewing, and meditation. So, when Mercury is retrograde, it’s good to allow more time for writing, editing, researching, and problem-solving.

Many successful organizations, companies, corporations, and individuals have Mercury retrograde, but unfortunately, many people continue to believe that when Mercury is retrograde, everything is supposed to go wrong.

This Mercury retrograde though, is more significant because Mercury is now “sitting” square to Neptune. This challenging aspect began this weekend and lasts for about ten days.

Mercury-Neptune aspects are favorable for imagination and creativity because they are related to the world of dreams, fantasy, fiction, art, music, movies, drama, and the psychic. However, with this aspect you need to be careful with your thinking and assumptions. The imagination associated with Neptune can get out of hand. Things can be too good to be true. The mind can play tricks on you. False assumptions are made.

These effects are subtle but real. Mercury is thinking, and with a discordant Neptune, there can be lies, confusion, deception, faulty reasoning, and a lack of clarity.

Therefore, be especially careful in all practical matters including major decisions and starts because there is more likely to be mental mistakes and errors. Carefully analyze all the details and try to as objective as possible because you are more likely to overlook details, forget to consider some aspect of a problem, and make foolish mistakes. Don't assume anything. Double-check the fine print. Reconfirm details. Make sure all nuances are clarified.
