Full Moon Lunar Eclipse Weekend
Ed Kluska’s Astrology Newsletter
For those preferring more peace and calm, a shift is coming. After tomorrow afternoon, there is a string of favorable aspects lasting through the weekend.
As explained in my last newsletter, A Week of Warnings, this week is intense and high energy. There will be many entremes, from the weather to politics. A Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is “pumped up” by challenging aspects to Mars and Uranus. To top it all off, Mercury went retrograde this morning.
Uranus entered the fixed-sign Taurus on May 15. Mars entered the fixed-sign Aquarius on May 16. Sunday evening Sun entered the fixed-sign Leo and tomorrow morning Moon enters the fixed-sign Aquarius to form a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 04:20 PM.
Eclipses are not “bad” by themselves, but when combined with Mars and Uranus it can be intense and perilous. Mars-Uranus aspects create more excitement, restlessness, impulsiveness, differences, and aggravations than usual. The status quo tends to be upset with surprises, unexpected events, turbulent changes, and highly charged situations. It can be like lightning bolts coming out of nowhere.
According to USA TODAY, “At nearly two hours long, this lunar eclipse is the longest total lunar eclipse of the 21st century. The bad news is that North America is the only continent on Earth where it won’t be visible. The best views will be in Africa and Asia, but Europe, South America, and Australia will still get partial views.
The total phase of the eclipse – called the totality – spans 1 hour, 42 minutes and 57 seconds, and during this eclipse, the Moon will appear red, giving it the nickname “blood moon.”
A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon and the Sun are on exact opposite sides of Earth, according to NASA. When this happens, Earth blocks the sunlight that normally reaches the Moon. Instead of that sunlight hitting the Moon’s surface, Earth’s shadow falls on it.
Although the Moon is in Earth’s shadow, some sunlight still reaches the Moon. The sunlight passes through Earth’s atmosphere, which causes Earth’s atmosphere to filter out most of the blue light. This makes the Moon appear red to people on Earth.
An added treat: July’s total lunar eclipse occurs on the same day the planet Mars reaches its opposition, when it will shine at its best in the night sky. A Mars opposition is when the Earth lies between Mars and the Sun, making the Sun and Mars appear in opposite directions as viewed from the Earth.
The next lunar eclipse that will be visible in North America will be next winter: Jan. 21, 2019. Skywatchers will have to bundle up for that one. As for a solar eclipse, you've got a longer wait. Although there are three partial solar eclipses this year, none are visible in the U.S. The next total eclipse of the sun visible in the U.S. will occur on April 8, 2024. That gives you plenty of time to stock up on those eclipse glasses you tossed after the big eclipse last year.”

Friday, July 27
01:14 AM * (Sun in Leo 180 Mars in Aquarius) is a challenging aspect occurring once a year dominating the sky this past week along with other stressors. People with a discordant Sun–Mars aspect in their horoscope tend to be hasty, rash, stubborn, restless, and impulsive. They can also be competitive, quarrelsome, and bossy with an inclination toward violence.
In the sky, this aspect heightens ego battles, especially involving males, and is related to disputes, intolerance, and heightened differences. It also coincides with accidents, attacks, aggression, violence, natural disasters, and escalated military tensions.
So, as it has been for this past week, it is more appropriate to be patient and tolerant as opposed to being pushy and demanding. Diplomacy is required. Trying to force or dominate a situation or person will likely upset and alienate others.
This stressful aspect is especially relevant for those born around the twenty-fifth of January, April, July, and October, and those with planets and points around the fifth degree of the Fixed Signs (Taurus Leo Scorpio Aquarius).
On the plus side, this aspect is related to determination, virility, and leadership. It represents the fighter and soldier so it can generate extra energy and determination to help you be more productive and achieving.
06:40 AM Moon enters Aquarius where remains until Sunday evening when it enters the next sign, Pisces.
11:47 AM (Moon in Aquarius 90 Uranus in Taurus) enhances instincts and willfulness, but also brings nervousness, anxiety, fears, upsets, moodiness, restlessness, stubbornness, fanaticism, excitability, and emotionally charged situations.
02:47 PM (Moon in Aquarius 00 Mars in Aquarius) this once a month lunar aspect provides boldness and intensity. There is more likely to be directness, irritability, impatience, brashness, impulsiveness, strong desires, confrontations, quarrels, and even anger and forceful actions. If you are trying to resolve an issue with someone, for example, be aware that volatile emotions are more likely than rational thinking.
04:20 PM * (Moon in Aquarius 180 Sun in Leo) Sunday evening the Sun entered Leo. This morning Moon enters Aquarius, the sign opposite Leo. At 04:24 PM Moon in Aquarius opposes Sun in Leo to form a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse because the Sun and Moon are aligned by both longitude and latitude.
Eclipses are significant for everyone depending on where they occur in one’s horoscope. In this case, look to see where 05 degrees of Leo and Aquarius are in your horoscope. Those positions and any aspects from those points to planets in your horoscope are relevant.
If any two signs symbolize the essence of the challenges many relationships face, it is the dynamics between Leo and Aquarius.
Leo is the sign of love and falling in love. We all want to be loved and admired, but this is especially true for Leo. On the other hand, warm and fuzzy one-to-one personal relationships are not as critical for Aquarius. They say, “Don’t get too close to me. I need my space and freedom. I want to be more of a pal and friend.”
Leo is drawn to Aquarius’s uniqueness and intelligence. Aquarius is drawn to Leo’s warmth and vitality. Leo works from the heart and Aquarius from the head. From Leo’s perspective, Aquarius can be too cold and aloof. From the Aquarius perspective, Leo can dramatize events and be too self-absorbed.
Leo is kids and lovers while Aquarius is friends, colleagues, and associates. Leo wants to be adored and pampered on a personal basis. Aquarius is more concerned with its network of friends and acquaintances.
Leo is vulnerable to flattery. It says, “I am special, and you need to know this.” Aquarius is more democratic. It says, “No one is any more special than anyone else. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”
Leo can be larger-than-life. It is Kings and Queens on their thrones and stars performing on stage. Aquarius is related to public causes, community activities, and nonprofit organizations.
Emotional connections are critical for Leo. For Aquarius, intellectual pursuits are more important. Its detached observations and intellectual bent make for many a scientist, engineer, researcher and computer technician and expert.
Leo and Aquarius can indeed complement each other and work well together. Each sign benefits from the other's qualities, attitudes, and insights. With Aquarius’s bent toward sharing and equality, Leo can learn that there’s more than one fish in the pond. With Leo’s heartfelt warmth and love, Aquarius can learn to balance its cold, detached approach and mental proclivities.
Both signs are friendly and great with people. Leo’s natural confidence and sunny nature blends well with Aquarius’s ability to form friendships, connections, and associations. I have several Leo-Aquarius clients who do terrific work in human resources, public relations, party planning, and other areas of employment.
06:39 PM (Moon in Aquarius 180 Node in Leo) favors connecting with people via teamwork and networking and enhances social interactions and any connections or alliances with groups large and small.
09:25 PM * (Venus in Virgo 120 Pluto in Capricorn) is a lovely planetary combination in effect this past week. It creates strong feelings of love and attractiveness as well as unique artistic gifts. People with this positive aspect in their horoscope tend to have strong feelings of love and extraordinary powers of attraction along with special artistic gifts and the ability to attract love and money.
Saturday, July 28
10:46 AM (Moon in Aquarius 90 Jupiter in Scorpio) this lovely aspect which occurs once a month and increases the possibilities for kindness, benevolence, positive feelings, and uplifting emotional support.
08:58 PM * (Sun in Leo 00 Node in Leo) this once a year aspect favors networking, social interactions, and forming associations based on the pursuit of joint interest. People with this aspect in their horoscope are sociable and inclined to give and receive stimulating ideas.
Sunday, July 29
01:02 AM (Moon in Aquarius 150 Venus in Virgo) fosters cooperation, cheerfulness, affections, pleasantries, gracefulness, emotional sharing, and artistic expression, especially involving females.
05:24 AM (Moon Aquarius 180 Mercury in Leo) creates a more active exchange between one’s conscious and unconscious minds which favors reflection, communication, discussions, and writing.
05:24 AM Moon in Aquarius becomes Void until this evening when it enters the next sign, Pisces.
07:27 PM Moon enters Pisces where remains until Wednesday morning when it enters the next sign, Aries.
How to Benefit from This Information
These newsletters are not intended to tell you what is going to happen in your life at the times given. Instead, the aspect descriptions provide some of the possibilities for around the times given so you can more wisely plan for and participate in your life. Often, it is obvious which time frames are better than others for timing or starting a party, trip, decision, business, or any other event, for example.
The * factors listed are more significance for right timing because they are in effect for a more extended period of time (often up to a week). Any business, project, decision, relationship, wedding, and childbirth, for example, started around the dates given will have the qualities and characteristics of the descriptions listed.
The lunar (Moon) aspects listed are less significant because they are in effect for only hours (versus days) before and until the times (Eastern Time) given, but they are still quite relevant for right timing.
The most critical factor with right timing is what’s occurring in your horoscope. When negative aspects dominate your horoscope, the chances of success with right timing are diminished no matter how good the aspects are in the sky. These newsletters cannot cover what is occurring in your horoscope, but if you apply the information in these newsletters with common sense, you have an advantage with timing your decisions and activities.
The basic premise with right timing is that it helps to have the "stars" on your side. Starting a marriage, trip, surgery, business, real estate deal, or a major purchase, for example, at an inopportune time reduces the chances of success no matter how good your intentions and how hard you try. The better the timing, the higher your chances of success. Even an hour can make a significant difference in important decisions and events.
With Void periods, there tends to be a lull in the energy levels, and what you start or implement is less likely to turn out the way you planned or expected. So, during Void periods it’s usually better to do things with less significance or no purpose in mind versus trying to start something new and vital. If you have a new idea, meet someone new, or start a business, for example, those activities are less likely to amount to much.
Note that the traits given for each sign in these newsletters are not intended to describe your personality, although at times the descriptions may be entirely accurate. Furthermore, to understand fully a person’s personality and character from an astrological perspective, there are dozens of other factors in a horoscope to consider besides one's sun sign.
