Cold, Lonely, Dark, and Honest

Ed Kluska’s Astrology Newsletter

One the basic principles of astrology is “there’s a time for everything,” and now coldness, loneliness, darkness, and honesty are more likely due to the strong presence of Capricorn in the sky.

Within the last ten days, Sun, Venus, and Saturn entered Capricorn to join Pluto which has been in Capricorn since 2008. When four or more planets are in one sign, it’s called a stellium which highlights the qualities of that sign.

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the planet of tests and karma, which brings to the forefront things we don’t necessarily appreciate.

For starts, Saturn rules coldness and cold weather. Most people prefer temperate versus extreme temperatures, but we are experiencing record-setting temperatures across much of the United States, causing deaths and many inconveniences.

The Sun’s entrance into Capricorn marks the winter solstice, the darkest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. It’s when people tend to stay at home, bundle up, and feel cut off from the outside world due to the coldness and darkness of the days.

In fact, Saturn is related to darkness, loneliness, discouragement, negativity, lethargy, melancholy, sadness, and depression. With Capricorns born in the darkness of the winter, there is a tendency for them to be more somber, realistic, critical, and negative than the other signs. In ancient times, winter was the time for the harsh realities of survival. A time to work hard and make it through tough times, all of which is Saturn-like.

Saturn is also related to truth. The way things are. We wish and want things to be different from what they our. But facts are facts and the realities our lives can be painful to face and scrutinize.

So, it’s a time to be brutally honest about your life and to question your values and efforts. Ask, “what is the actual reality of my life including my relationships, health, finances, and career?”

With any test and challenge, astrology always offers balances and solutions. In this case, Mars-related activities such as movement and exercise will warm the body and increase motivation and energy levels.

Another Saturn balance is Jupiter, the planet of faith and hope. Keep praying for and visualizing all the people and things in your life which support and comfort you. Realize that the darkness of winter is now decreasing and the daily light will keep increasing as the days move forward.

And finally, with the current emphasis on Capricorn, it’s appropriate to be Capricorn-like in a positive way. Focus on what you need to get done with discipline, sacrifice, and hard work.

So, stay warm, active, connected, and hopeful. Don’t let the coldness and darkness get you down.
