Hard & Soft
Ed Kluska’s Astrology Newsletter
The Sun is a third of the way into Capricorn, and this morning the Moon entered Pisces where it remains until entering the next sign Aries late Wednesday morning ET.
As explained in previous newsletters, Capricorn and Pisces are about as opposite and different as two signs can be.
The earth-sign Capricorn is more objective and comfortable with the outer world of business, research and science. The water-sign Pisces is more subjective and comfortable with the inner world of emotions, feelings and sentiments.
Capricorn is ruled by Saturn which is earthbound and represents focus, responsibilities and the reality of everyday life. Pisces is ruled by Jupiter and Neptune which are sky bound and represent expansion, diffusion and transcendence.
Capricorn strives for worldly accomplishments while Pisces wants more inner world understanding. Capricorn is active and determined to control matters and accomplish its goals while Pisces is more passive and accepting of the way things are.
Capricorn represents cement (hard, set and rigid). Practical and realistic, Capricorn deals effectively with the demands and responsibilities of the workplace and everyday life with a serious and sometimes cynical attitude toward life.
Pisces represents oceans and seas (soft, fluid and boundless). Sensitive, imaginative and empathic, Pisces is a dreamer at heart. It intuitively knows there’s much more to life than what can be measured in material and factual terms.
Capricorn is facts and judgments. It is the "doubting Thomas" wanting proofs and confirmations. Pisces is more gullible, assuming, and allows more for nuances, subtleties and discrepancies.
Capricorn thrives for order and certainty whereas Pisces can be disorganized and comfortable with an atmosphere of clutter and "creative chaos.”
But these two signs offer much to each other and can get along if they are willing to understand, appreciate and blend the differences between them. Both signs are more sensitive and introvert than most other signs. They have reserved and introspective qualities which can add much depth to their relationship.
Capricorn “the realist” can focus Pisces and bring them structure and accomplishments. They can help Pisces realize there’s more to life than dreaming and drifting. Pisces “the believer” can help Capricorn relax and bring them faith and inspiration. They can help Capricorn realize there’s more to life than money and success.
In other words, the earth of Capricorn can provide structure for the fluidity and dualities of Pisces. And the water of Pisces can soften Capricorn’s rigid, stiff and worrisome nature.
Good careers for this sign combination are any management and business activities (Capricorn) related to the arts, entertainment and creativity (Pisces). Also, any work combining Capricorn’s administrative abilities with the benevolent inclinations of Pisces.
