Sagittarius Virgo Differences

With the Sun now in the mutable fire–sign Sagittarius, and the Moon in the mutable earth–fire sign Virgo from this morning until late Friday afternoon, we have two signs with different approaches to life.
Virgo represents our immediate physical reality: the routines, habits, and details of our everyday life. Sagittarius is related to concepts and the bigger picture. It is hopes and ideals projected into the future. It’s more about global perspective and longer-range goals.
Virgo is more critical and negative (testing everyone and everything as it looks for faults and flaws with skepticism). Sagittarius is more positive and optimistic (trusting in life and looking for the best in people and situations).
Virgo is the 9-to-5 dedicated worker focused on duties and responsibilities. Sagittarius is the risk taker with high hopes and far-reaching wishes. It’s more abstract and explorative. The gambler, wheeler-dealer looking for more somewhere else.
Virgo represents trade schools, applied knowledge, and learning on the job with real life experiences. Sagittarius is more abstract and questioning. It is intellectual understanding, academic learning and published books as well as college and postdoctoral studies.
Over the years, I’ve had many younger clients with this Sagittarius Virgo combination (or aspects from their six to nine houses-the Virgo and Sagittarius houses). They struggle with needing a job (Virgo) to pay for tuition and other costs related to getting their academia degree (Sagittarius). Or throughout their lives, they are in conflict between the reality and duties of everyday life (Virgo) and the travel, knowledge and greater perspective they seek (Sagittarius).
If Virgo and Sagittarius are emphasized in your horoscope or relationships, there are checks and balances. The critical and functional nature of Virgo can temper and stabilize the exuberant, lofty and often unrealistic plans of Sagittarius. And the need for Sagittarius to grow and explore far and wide can edge Virgo to see a bigger picture beyond the limited perspective of what needs to be done today.

While Virgo tends to focus on the trees, Sagittarius is interested in the forest. Very often Virgo points out problems with specific details of any situation, while Sagittarius would rather discuss the overall, general outlook rather than the practical details. These different approaches can balance each other. They are also likely to conflict with each other at times, especially when Sagittarius feels that the details will take care of themselves and Virgo should simply have more faith in the process.
Positively, you can work together, with Sagittarius providing the energy, vision, and enterprise, and Virgo providing the practical expertise, and skill. However, it is inevitable that Sagittarius will feel annoyed with Virgo's "pettiness" and criticism at times, and Virgo will feel frustrated by Sagittarius's sloppiness of thought or "irresponsible" behavior. Virgo can benefit from Sagittarius's enthusiasm and optimism, while Sagittarius can benefit from Virgo's pragmatism and humility (a quality Sagittarius may lack).
